Provenance: from The Manor House, Marton-le-Moor, near Ripon, North Yorkshire - home A W Maynard Esq., celebrated breeder of shorthorn cattle, who lived here in the mid 19th century. The figure is reputedly one of the Maynard family.
Notes: Schwanfelder lived in Leeds and was patronised by George Lane-Fox (1793-1848) of Bramham Park, only 20 miles from Marton-le-Moor
Overall good original condition. Tight canvases, all over craquelure but no flaking or loss of paint. No signs of over-painting under UV light. Original frames with minor losses
