Mid 18th century Worcester fig leaf shape dish, circa 1756-1758, moulded as a single leaf with veining, serrated rim, and stalk, painted in polychrome enamels with floral spray, sprigs, and insect in the Meissen style, L20cm
This fig leaf shape is considered rare having only been in production for a short time.
Due to the crispness and detail in the veining it is believed that 'the mould was produced by taking a cast from an actual leaf'
This shape was made in two sizes, the larger examples such as this can be found decorated in the Chinese style in blue and white, or in the Meissen style in enamels.
