Dating back to the 18th century, this Continental pewter lidded tankard is believed to be of German origin. The cylindrical form of this tankard is complemented by a hinged stepped cover featuring an acorn thumbpiece. The curved handle adds a touch of elegance to the piece, while the body is adorned with intricate wriggle-work decoration.
Resting upon an ovolo base, this tankard bears touch marks on the underside of the cover, including the thumb piece. Measuring approximately 22.5cm in height, this antique pewter tankard is a fine example of 18th-century craftsmanship.
