Richard Fowle (III) of East Grinstead (Sussex)- 19th century 30hr oak cased longcase clock c 1830, with a flat topped pediment and carved frieze beneath, square hood door and a long rectangular trunk with a break arch toped door on a square plinth, painted dial with green spandrels, makers name and Roman numerals, dial pinned directly to a chain driven countwheel striking movement. With pendulum and weight. No Bell.
The Fowle family were a prodigious family of Sussex clockmakers from 1715-1886, three family members were named Richard in succession.
