This Victorian sampler crafted by Elizabeth Mary Nicholson at the age of 15 in 1863 features a religious verse intricately stitched onto the fabric. The verse reads: 'Be Thou faithful Unto death and I will give thee a crown of life. Faith is the brightest evidence Of things beyond our sight, Breaks through the cloud of flesh and sense And dwells in Heavenly light. It sets time past, time present view. Brings distant prospects home, Of things a thousand years ago, Or a thousand years to come.
