This mahogany 8-day longcase clock from around 1830 is attributed to William Lister of Newcastle upon Tyne. The clock features a break-arch top, intricate fretwork, and three ball finials. The hood door is adorned with rectangular pilasters, while the long trunk boasts reeded columns and a gothic arched door. It stands on a rectangular plinth with a shaped base.
The painted dial of this clock showcases floral spandrels, flowers on the arch, Roman numerals, a minute track, and stamped brass hands. Additionally, it includes subsidiary seconds and date dials with matching brass hands. The dial is pinned directly to a rack striking movement that strikes the hours on a bell. The clock comes with a pendulum, weights, and key.
Notably, William Lister operated his clockmaking business on Grey Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, from 1815 to 1840. Don't miss the opportunity to acquire this exceptional piece at the upcoming auction by Duggleby Auctioneers.
