The Country House Sale is a bi-annual event celebrating fine furniture, unique antiques, stunning Yorkshire oak and exquisite decorative objects that embody centuries of style, craftsmanship and heritage.
Highlights include an early Charles I oak and elm refectory table, richly adorned 19th-century Empire Revival furnishings from Kinloch Castle, elegant William IV and Georgian library chairs, Gothic revival sideboards, and specimen marble-topped cabinets of outstanding quality.
Silver and decorative pieces feature strongly, among them a George II provincial silver coffee pot by John Webber of Plymouth, Exeter 1759, and a rare Dunhill Sporting “Aquarium” table lighter, specially commissioned in 1955 to commemorate Nicholas Nickleby’s Ascot triumph. Other notable entries include a fine Grand Tour micromosaic plaque, a rare 18th-century Delft ballooning dish, and an impressive Chinese Transitional Wucai vase and cover.
Timepieces add further distinction, from a finely cased 19th-century Marine Chronometer by Grant & Son of Carlisle to a late Victorian Jewellers regulator by Hirsch of Bayswater, as well as ornate French mantel and wall clocks.
The sale also offers decorative mirrors, textiles and rugs, including a finely worked Persian Qom silk “Chahar Bagh” panel rug, with each piece selected to reflect the enduring traditions and spirit of the country house.
