Venue: Online & at Duggleby Stephenson, York, YO19 5GF

Our upcoming Fine & Affordable Art Sale brings together an eclectic mix of works spanning centuries, styles, and schools – with something to suit every taste and budget.

Highlights include a monumental abstract canvas by Czech-born painter Antonin Karel ‘Tony’ Bartl (1912–1998), consigned directly from the family of his friend and colleague, the architect Hugh Segar “Sam” Scorer. Collectors of modern British art will also be drawn to two works by Stephen Wiltshire (b.1974) – the renowned autistic savant celebrated for his extraordinary cityscapes and rare figural drawings – including a finely detailed pen and ink of the Empire State Building.

The sale also features 19th- and 20th-century watercolours and oils such as Charles John Watson’s charming Street Scene with Figures, a vibrant depiction of India by Mortimer Menpes, and Ngwe Gaing’s evocative 1947 painting of the Buddha, created during a pivotal moment in Burma’s history. Old Master enthusiasts will appreciate 18th-century works including The Travellers from the Circle of Claude-Joseph Vernet, and a refined Belle Époque Hand Study in a Lace Gown from the Circle of Jacques-Émile Blanche.

This sale offers an exciting opportunity to acquire original artworks, whether you’re looking to begin your collection or add a distinctive new piece. Browse the catalogue and place your bids.
