This elegant 8-day mahogany longcase clock from around 1880 was crafted by George Rutherford of Huddersfield. The clock features a swan neck pediment and turned patera, a hood with shaped back splats, and a break arch hood door flanked by ring-turned pilasters. The trunk is adorned with conforming recessed pilasters and a short wavy-topped trunk door, all standing on a broad plinth raised on bracket feet.
The fully painted dial showcases matching pastoral depictions to the spandrels and break arch, complete with the maker's name, Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and date dials, and matching stamped brass hands. The dial is pinned via a false plate to a rack striking movement that strikes the hours on a bell (bell missing). Additionally, this remarkable timepiece comes with a pendulum and no weights.
