English-Large early 20th century 8-day fusee wall clock, 17 inch painted dial inscribed "Westoe Road Senior Mixed School No 46", with a 25 inch wooden bezel and glazed spun brass bezel, painted dial with Roman numerals, minute track and steel spade hands, dial attached via a steel false plate to a chain driven four pillar fusee movement with tapered plates, rear of wooden bezel stamped J Rainey, Watchmaker & Jeweller, 25 Westoe Road, South Shields. The inscription on this clock likely refers to the historical Westoe Higher Grade School, which was located on Westoe Road, South Shields, and was a predecessor to the later Harton School Westoe Road Senior Mixed School in South Shields. The school opened in 1890 and was one of the largest Board Schools in the country closing in the late 1960s
