This eclectic sale brings together period charm, decorative textiles and contemporary comfort, offering something for classic interiors and modern homes alike. Traditional furniture is well represented, from Georgian and Victorian chests, desks, linen presses and dining tables to characterful vernacular seating including a mixed-wood wingback rocking chair, country oak settle and Windsor armchairs. More formal statement pieces include burr walnut loo and centre tables, a Queen Anne-style burr walnut chest on stand, a Regency-style ebonised and gilt pier mirror and an early 19th-century Scottish mahogany longcase clock by Robert Dalgliesh of Falkirk. There are also interesting international touches, such as Anglo-Indian bone-inlaid and Burmese marriage chests, Chinese lacquered and Thai elm cabinets, and an imposing pine four-poster bed in 17th-century style.
The rugs and carpets section is a particular strength, featuring a large indigo-ground Persian carpet, richly worked Kashan and Sarouk room-size pieces, classic crimson Bokhara and village weaves from Heriz, Malayer, Hamadan and Baluchistan, together with vibrant Qashqai, Maimana and Chobi kilims. These are complemented by a broad choice of upholstered furniture: from green leather Chesterfield sofas and armchairs to button-back recamiers, chaise longues and traditional wingback chairs. A strong contemporary offering includes dining suites and occasional pieces by makers such as Barker & Stonehouse, Habitat, Rogers of York, Sofa.com, Sherborne, David Paine and Ercol, ensuring the sale provides stylish options for every room and budget.
