Duggleby Auctioneers presents a 20th-century "French style" Two manual Harpsichord crafted by John Rooks of Tincknall in 1971. This exquisite instrument features double manual keyboards with three sets of strings: Two Unison, one octave, and a "buff" stop. The black outer casing adorned with gold banding houses five octave keyboards with 63 keys E1-G6, boasting black naturals and synthetic covered white sharps. The inner lid is beautifully painted with a rural scene, complemented by an adjustable music desk.
The soundboard, bridges, strings, and synthetic jacks are in good condition, with only a minor crack in the treble area of the soundboard. The key action offers reasonable repetition and damping but requires some regulation. The case is elegantly raised on turned baluster supports, adding to its charm and functionality.
