Dating back to 1828, this early 19th-century Grand Piano hails from the renowned John Broadwood & Son of London. Crafted in the straight-strung Broadwood “Barr Frame” style, this piano features four steel braces and a brass hitchpin plate. While partially restrung with a missing string and some loose tuning pins, the bridges are in good condition. The soundboard shows signs of age with cracks, and the action requires adjustment. This piano boasts a six-octave keyboard with 73 keys, adorned with ivory naturals and ebony sharps. The Lyre includes sustain and una-chorda pedals, all housed in a mahogany case with brass inlay and the maker’s name on the double key-fall. The adjustable open lattice music desk is elegantly detailed with egg and dart moulding, resting on reeded and tapered legs with castors.
