The Coins, Banknotes & Stamps Sale offers a wide-ranging selection spanning hammered and milled coinage, modern proof issues, world gold, paper money and extensive stamp collections, with material appealing to both collectors and investors.
Gold features strongly, from a Henry VIII gold full Angel and a run of George III “spade” guineas, through to Victoria, Edward VII and George V sovereigns, plus later Elizabeth II proof and bullion-related issues including cased sovereigns and a substantial gold proof Britannia four-coin set. There is further breadth in world gold, with coins from France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Venice and the USA, alongside modern international proof gold issues from mints including Australia (Perth Mint) and other territories.
Lot 86 is a key numismatic highlight: an Iron Age Corieltavi Tribe gold stater, “Five-Pellet Domino” type (c.50–10 BC), described as a unique five-pellet variety within the rare Domino series, with recorded provenance as a detector find near Lelley, Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire.
Silver and mixed-coin lots provide further opportunity, with groups of British hammered silver (including Tudor and medieval issues), Roman bronze coins, and substantial quantities of pre-1920 and pre-1947 British silver, together with proof sets, commemoratives and collections of circulating decimal favourites including Kew Gardens 50p examples and Olympic cover collections.
Stamps are well represented from Queen Victoria penny blacks and early line-engraved issues, through to later Great Britain and world material in multiple albums, and large quantities of mint decimal postage in presentation packs, booklets and sheets.
