Venue: Online & Live Broadcast from Duggleby Stephenson of York

The Pictures Sale offers a varied selection of oils, watercolours, pastels, prints and drawings, with a strong showing of Scottish and Northern British landscapes, coastal views and architectural scenes, alongside still life, sporting and figurative subjects.

Landscape and marine works include paintings by Robert Hope, Archibald Kay, William Bradley Lamond and John Milne Donald, with watercolours by artists such as Samuel Bough, Anthony Vandyke Copley Fielding, Thomas Bush Hardy, John Linnell and Alfred Fontville De Breanski Jnr. The catalogue also features recognisable places and views including York Minster, Whitby Harbour, Bamburgh Castle, and Venetian scenes, alongside Welsh and West Country subjects.

Still life forms an attractive thread, with fruit and floral studies by Richard Sebright, Vincent Clare and Oliver Clare, complemented by bird subjects by artists associated with Royal Worcester. Prints and works on paper add further depth, including an etching by Sir Frank Brangwyn, a drypoint by Enzo Plazzotta, and a group after Goya’s La Tauromaquia.
