Our inaugural Country Living sale is now open, an auction celebrating the enduring character of the English country home.
Spanning the 17th century through to the early 20th century, the sale brings together country oak and pine furniture, vernacular ceramics and decorative objects shaped by rural life. Highlights include early joined oak coffers and cupboards, wainscot and Windsor chairs, farmhouse tables, dressers, settles and chests, many retaining original surface and patina.
The catalogue is particularly strong in kitchen and domestic wares, from scrubbed pine preparation tables and housekeeper’s cupboards to copper pans, hanging racks, jelly moulds, treen and primitive utensils. These sit alongside slipware, Pratt ware, Delftware, creamware and ironstone, ranging from decorative chargers to full table services.
Decorative entries include sporting and equestrian pictures, portraits, samplers and folk art, as well as carved oak panels and architectural fragments. A strong sporting element runs throughout, with taxidermy, antlers and hunting-related pieces adding atmosphere and scale.
Rugs and textiles bring colour and texture, with Persian carpets and kilims in rich, earthy tones, while Yorkshire craftsmanship is represented by Mouseman, Squirrelman, Unicornman and Oakleafman pieces.
The Country House Sale offers depth, variety and authenticity throughout. Bidding is now open, so take a look and place your bids today.
