Our forthcoming Silver sale brings together a refined and thoughtfully assembled selection of tableware and presentation pieces, showcasing both the elegance and enduring appeal of traditional silversmithing.
At the heart of the sale are several impressive tea and coffee services, ranging from the restrained elegance of an Edwardian four-piece set by Richard Richardson to the richer ornament of a Victorian service by John Round & Son, engraved with classical motifs and the motto Diligentia et Honore. A finely balanced Mappin & Webb five-piece service further reflects the craftsmanship and reputation of one of Britain’s most respected makers.
Flatware is well represented by a substantial canteen of silver cutlery by Josiah Williams & Co, presented in an oak case and offering both practicality and classic design. Decorative and display pieces include a pair of Corinthian column candlesticks, their architectural form lending a sense of grandeur, and a York Minster commemorative salver, engraved with a detailed view of the cathedral.
Throughout the catalogue, the sale combines functional pieces with those intended for display, highlighting the versatility of silver in both everyday use and formal settings. Overall, it offers an appealing opportunity to acquire well-crafted examples from notable makers, spanning the late 19th to 20th centuries.
