Green managed pharmacies in Yeovil, Somerset, and later Selles Chemist in Filey, North Yorkshire, before becoming the proprietor of his own establishment, Peter Green Pharmacy, in the Market Place, Malton. These bottles formed part of the traditional shop fittings in both the Filey and Malton pharmacies and were cherished as part of Green's personal collection.
