Presented for auction is a British 1874 pattern 2nd Life Guards State sword by Henry Wilkinson of Pall Mall, London, circa 1912. This remarkable piece features a 94cm straight single-edged blade adorned with the George V monogram and cypher, along with battle honours and the owner's initials H.L.H. The blade is marked 43714 at the top.
The steel nickel-plated basket hilt is embellished with an applied George V crown and the 2nd Life Guards monogram in gilt brass. The shagreen bound grip is accented with triple silver wire, adding to the sword's elegance. It comes complete with a steel nickel-plated scabbard featuring triple brass mounts and twin suspension rings.
