We're pleased to present a distinguished single-owner collection of portrait miniature jewellery, spanning the 18th to early 20th centuries and celebrating the intimate artistry of these finely painted works. The group features miniatures predominantly on ivory – all registered for sale under Section 10 of the APHA Ivory Act – showcased in rings, brooches, pendants and lockets that demonstrate both skilled craftsmanship and a strong sense of personal sentiment.

Among the highlights is a notable selection of 18th-19th century portrait rings, many framed by rose-cut diamonds, paste stones, marcasite, seed pearls and garnets, and set in gold or silver-topped mounts. Several examples display distinctive period details such as trifurcated shoulders, milled bezels and engraved or textured shanks. Themes of affection and remembrance appear throughout, including a French ring surmounted by a symbolic ‘trophy of love’ with flaming torch and quiver, as well as a rare Georgian ‘Lover’s Eye’ pendant suspending a cultured pearl drop.

The collection also offers a variety of brooches and pendants painted with women in 18th-century dress, cherubs, and a finely executed miniature of a gentleman, alongside French enamel and guilloché pieces. Victorian brooches include Etruscan Revival examples with bead-and-wirework decoration, turquoise-set designs and richly scrolled gold mounts. Completing the group is a series of silver portrait brooches and lockets with seed pearl or paste stone surrounds, together with two early 17th-century English School miniatures painted in oil on copper.

Together, these pieces convey the refinement, artistry and intimate character that define portrait miniature jewellery. Whether appreciated for their historical resonance, their craftsmanship or the personal stories they represent, this thoughtfully assembled collection offers a rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts.
