The Furniture and Rugs Sale presents a varied selection of antique, vintage and later decorative pieces, spanning Georgian and Regency mahogany, country oak furniture, upholstered seating and a wide range of hand-knotted rugs.
The furniture offering includes a set of ten 17th-century design oak ladder-back dining chairs with two armchairs, a Georgian mahogany seven-drawer chest, and an Arts and Crafts oak cocktail cupboard with carved detail and wrought iron stretchers. Storage and display pieces feature strongly, from dressers and side cabinets to a late 19th-century painted pine shop display cabinet with glazed doors and mirrored back.
Mirrors form a particularly strong section, ranging from a Regency-style giltwood overmantel mirror and a pair of French Rococo-style giltwood pier mirrors, to the impressive carved giltwood and gesso wall mirror in the manner of Thomas Johnson. Dining and occasional furniture includes oak drop-leaf and extending tables, side tables and bureaus, alongside upholstered seating, an early 20th-century brass-mounted iron bedstead, and a mid-20th-century rocking horse.
The rugs section completes the sale, with Caucasian Shirvan and Kazak rugs, a North West Persian Heriz, and a large antique Bokhara rug, together with runners and prayer rugs in a range of sizes and palettes.
