Our upcoming Nature, Culture & Curiosity sale brings together an eclectic and engaging mix of natural history, scientific interest, ethnographic material and unusual decorative objects, creating a catalogue full of character, rarity and conversation pieces.

A particularly strong feature of the sale is a large fossil section, much of it drawn from a single-owner collection, and spanning an impressive range of specimens from across the prehistoric world. Ammonites, trilobites, fossil fish, amber, crinoids, dinosaur material and mineral specimens appear throughout, giving the sale real depth for collectors of natural history and cabinet curiosities alike. Highlights from this section include a Cadoceras sublaeve ammonite, a striking copal amber specimen containing insects, and numerous carefully identified examples from locations across England, Europe, Russia, Morocco, China and the Americas.

Elsewhere, the sale ranges widely across the curious and the collectable. Among the standout lots is a 19th century Moghul Indian silver and silver-gilt chess set, richly modelled with figures on elephants, camels and horses, while a group of Royal Pharmaceutical Society glass bottles, preserved from the collection of pharmacist Peter Green, offers a strong note of social and scientific history. Taxidermy and entomology are also well represented, from butterfly displays and shells to more unusual pieces such as a Carrion Crow perched upon a steampunk hat.

The catalogue is further enlivened by tribal and ethnographic works, antique scientific and medical interest, minerals, shells, books, textiles and eccentric smalls, alongside distinctive objects such as a novelty silver bullet and the remarkable Black Forest ‘Augenwender’ moving-eyes cuckoo clock.

Altogether, this is a sale designed to reward curiosity, whether you are drawn to natural history, collecting, scholarship or simply the unusual – browse and bid now.
