A good example of a typical Northeastern case and movement form the early 19th century. Thoma Fletcher is recorded as working in Gateshead and Newcastle upon Tyne 1810-1850.

Eugene Farcot - French "cherub on a swing" mantel clock c1870, with an alabaster case and drum movement supported by twin scroll supports on a stepped plinth raised on alabaster bun feet, enamel dial with Roman numerals, minute track and steel moon hands, 8-day count wheel striking movement, striking the hours and half-hours on a bell, mounted on an oval padded plinth with an ebonised base and conforming glass dome. Eugene Farcot was a highly respected 19th century Parisian clockmaker who in 1862 invented and patented the ingenious double action escapement with half-moon pallets and twin escape wheels used on this clock. The design of the escapement allows the pendulum to swing forwards and backwards as opposed to the conventional pendulum oscillating from left to right.

With pendulum, weights and key. The Lister family were a prolific family of clockmakers working in the West Riding of Yorkshire during the 18th century. Working in various locations including Halifax, Keighley and Luddenden. William Lister (I) is recorded as working in Keighley from 1715-37 and his son William (II) from 1735-1785.

Denton & Fox of Hull – Early 19th century mahogany 8-day longcase clock c1802, pagoda pediment with an oval inlay and three ball and spire finials, break arch painted dial and hood door flanked by reeded pilasters with brass Corinthian capitals, long trunk door with conforming break arch top on a rectangular plinth raised on bracket feet, early Wilson (Birmingham) dial with Roman numerals, five minute Arabic’s and minute dots, subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture, with matching steel hands, floral spandrels within raised gesso work and a conforming oval depiction of a young maiden and dog to the break arch, dial pinned via a falseplate to a rack striking movement with a recoil anchor escapement striking the hours on a cast bell. Clock with a painted metal dial, Roman numerals, minute track and steel spade hands, small seconds hand and platform regulation. Case 9" diameter with a 5-1/2” dial. Barometer reading air pressure from 28 to 31 inches with weather predictions, steel indicating hand and brass recording hand, with a curved mercury thermometer reading both the temperature in both Celsius and Fahrenheit.
