Our upcoming Music, Sport & Entertainment sale brings together a diverse and engaging collection of objects that span performance, achievement and popular culture. From finely crafted instruments to signed sporting memorabilia and iconic pieces of music history, the sale offers collectors the chance to connect with moments and figures that have shaped their fields.

Here are some of the highlights.

Music: Craftsmanship and Cultural Icons

Leading the section is Lot 3004, an early 19th century English cello by Samuel Gilkes of London, estimated at £25,000–30,000. Dating to circa 1820 and accompanied by certification, the instrument reflects the craftsmanship of one of London’s respected makers, with its warm golden brown varnish and traditional construction. Instruments of this calibre appeal not only to collectors but also to musicians seeking tonal quality and historical character.

Also of note is Lot 3002, a Bösendorfer Model 130 upright piano, estimated at £6,000–10,000. Produced circa 1941, the piano combines the renowned Austrian maker’s precision engineering with a compact form, offering both performance quality and presence.
At a more accessible level, Lot 3022, an HS Anderson Madcat HS-1 electric guitar estimated at £1,800–2,200, will be of particular interest to collectors of modern instruments, with its distinctive design and association with iconic players.

Sport: Legends & Local Heroes

The sporting section brings together global icons and local football heritage, offering something for both international collectors and regional enthusiasts.

A highlight is Lot 3159, a pair of boxing gloves signed by Muhammad Ali and George Foreman, estimated at £500–1,000. Associated with one of the most famous rivalries in boxing history, the signatures evoke the legacy of the “Rumble in the Jungle” and the wider golden age of heavyweight boxing. Motorsport is represented by Lot 3109, a signed Michael Schumacher Ferrari helmet, estimated at £500–1,000. Signed at the 2004 British Grand Prix, the piece reflects Schumacher’s dominance in Formula One during that era.

Football memorabilia includes Lot 3126, a limited edition football signed by Geoff Hurst, estimated at £100–200, commemorating England’s 1966 World Cup victory, one of the most celebrated moments in English sporting history. At a more local level, Lot 3168, a collection of 1970s Scarborough FC programmes, estimated at £100–200, provides a nostalgic look at regional football culture, appealing to collectors of club history and ephemera.

Entertainment: Icons of Stage & Screen

The entertainment section captures moments from music history and wider cultural influence, bringing together signed pieces and creative interpretations of sound.

A standout is Lot 3076, a Queen ‘The Game’ signed vinyl record, estimated at £300–500. Signed by Freddie Mercury, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, the record is made all the more engaging by its story of acquisition, with the vendor going to great lengths to meet the band during their 1982 visit to Leeds. It’s a piece that blends music history with personal anecdote, adding depth beyond the signatures themselves. Contemporary music is represented by Lot 3089, a Soundwaves artwork print of The Chemical Brothers’ ‘Galvanize’, estimated at £100–200. Signed by Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, the piece transforms audio into a visual waveform, offering a modern and conceptual take on music memorabilia.

Rounding out the section is Lot 3099, a collection of four signed Sir David Attenborough books, estimated at £120–180. Spanning some of his most influential works, these signed editions reflect the enduring impact of one of the most recognisable and respected voices in broadcasting, whose storytelling has shaped how generations understand the natural world.
