This week at Duggleby’s sees five very different sales, offering everything from fine jewellery and statement furniture to sporting pictures, decorative ceramics and affordable collector’s pieces. Jewellery

The Jewellery sale opens with sparkle and strong gemstone appeal. Lot 8004, an 18ct white gold single stone diamond ring, features a 3.07 carat diamond set within a fancy heart-shaped gallery. Estimated at £6,000 to £8,000, it is a striking piece with both scale and sentiment. Colour follows in Lot 8029, an 18ct white gold sapphire and diamond bracelet, set with twenty-six oval cut sapphires, each spaced by round brilliant cut diamonds. With a total sapphire weight of approximately 10.60 carats, it carries an estimate of £2,000 to £2,500.

Lot 8051 offers a classic combination of ruby and diamond, with a pair of 18ct white gold ruby and diamond earrings. Each stud is centred by an oval cut ruby surrounded by twelve round brilliant cut diamonds, estimated at £1,000 to £1,500.

Furniture & Rugs

The Furniture & Rugs sale includes pieces with character, practicality and decorative presence. Lot 7009 is a late 19th century coin operated floor standing Polyphon, housed in a walnut case and offered with eleven 50cm discs and a number of old pennies. Estimated at £2,000 to £3,000, it is a fascinating musical and mechanical object with real room presence. Traditional seating appears in Lot 7004, a Georgian design green leather barrel-back wingback armchair, with shaped wings, scroll arms, close nailed border and cabriole supports. It is estimated at £400 to £600.

For texture and colour, Lot 7037 presents an Indian Kayam rug, decorated with repeating geometric medallions on a red ground, within a blue border of stylised floral motifs. It carries an estimate of £200 to £400.

Pictures

The Pictures sale offers sporting drama, architectural imagination and maritime atmosphere. Lot 6541, Eugène Péchaubès’ Last Fence at Auteuil, Paris, is an oil on canvas capturing the energy of the racecourse. With provenance from Kensington Fine Art, it is estimated at £500 to £800.
Lot 6500 is Colin Thompson’s Art Deco Home Illustration, worked in ink and watercolour and featured in his Pictures of Home book, commissioned by Leeds Permanent Building Society. It is estimated at £300 to £500.

A coastal subject appears in Lot 6529, Norman Colebourne’s December Sunshine, Off Liverpool, an oil on board with exhibition provenance from Wallasey Arts Society. It is estimated at £100 to £200.

Antique & Decorative Objects

The Antique & Decorative Objects sale features recognised makers and strong decorative appeal. Lot 6000 is a Moorcroft Bullers Wood pattern vase, designed by Rachel Bishop and issued as a limited edition of 100. Decorated with abundant floral detail, it is estimated at £300 to £500. European porcelain is represented by Lot 6032, a 19th century Meissen figure of a gallant kneeling on a gilded square base, estimated at £200 to £300.

Yorkshire craftsmanship appears in Lot 6078, a Mouseman adzed oak nut bowl by the workshop of Robert Thompson, complete with the carved mouse signature. It is estimated at £150 to £250 and represents an excellent opportunity to own a piece of Mouseman without breaking the bank.

Affordable Antiques: Collectors, Pictures & Jewellery

The week closes with an accessible mix of jewellery, decorative objects and collectables. Lot 9017 is a French Art Deco gilt metal and bakelite seahorse bracelet, attributed to Jean Painlevé and offered with a matching clip. It is estimated at £40 to £60. Lot 9015 offers a delicate 19th century pietra dura flower brooch, set within a gilt metal surround and presented with a blue velvet jewellery box. It carries an estimate of £30 to £50.

Ceramic collectors will note Lot 9085, a charming group of Royal Doulton figures, including The Old Balloon Seller, The Balloon Man, Biddy Pennyfarthing and Balloon Girl. The group is estimated at £20 to £50.
