Crafted in 18ct white gold, the brooch is centred with a cabochon ruby of approximately 1.85 carats, framed by foliate scrolls set with old cut and rose cut diamonds, and bears the maker’s mark “EF”, eagle’s head stamp, and numbered inscription.

Also included is Lot 7015, an early 20th century Art Deco burr maple mirrored drinks cabinet estimated at £200–300. Lot 6529, estimated at £200–300, is a delicate and atmospheric watercolour by Edwin Bale RI depicting a young girl with a water carrier. Beautifully executed with fine detail and soft colouring, the work measures 31cm x 40cm. 

Another appealing work is Lot 6569, Pat Maclaurin’s oil on board titled It was a Lovey Lunch, estimated at £100–200. Full of character and humour, the painting captures the artist’s distinctive expressive style and strong decorative appeal. Also featured is Lot 6533, a picturesque watercolour by Charles Edmund Rowbotham titled Gulf of Amalfi – Italy, estimated at £80–120. Rich in Mediterranean charm, the painting beautifully captures the light and scenery of the Italian coastline.

Fine silverware and unusual novelty pieces headline this week’s silver sale. Lot 8568, estimated at £1,000–2,000, is an elegant silver tea service comprising a three-piece tea set by Synyer & Beddoes, Birmingham 1929, together with a matching hot water jug from Sheffield 1954. Designed in a classic panelled circular form, the service offers timeless style and impressive craftsmanship. Another highlight is Lot 8558, a richly embossed Victorian silver two-handled cup estimated at £300–500. Decorated with cattle, horses, and sheep, the cup was presented by the Nottingham Mills Company to John Barugh, Thwing, and was made in London in 1865 by Henry Holland. 

Completing the selection is Lot 8566, a delightful limited edition Elizabeth II novelty silver and silver gilt surprise egg by Anthony Gordon Elson, estimated at £200–300. Opening with a bayonet fitting, the egg reveals two rotating musical bunnies hidden inside, combining fine silversmithing with whimsical design.

Antiques & Decorative Objects

Collectors of British ceramics and decorative antiques will find plenty to admire in this varied sale. Among the highlights is Lot 6018, an Eric Ravilious for Wedgwood ‘Garden Implements’ Queen’s Ware jug estimated at £300–500. Featuring transfer printing with hand-painted and lustre decoration, the design remains one of the most sought-after collaborations in British ceramics. 

Also included is Lot 6000, a William Moorcroft ‘Moonlit Blue’ pattern vase dating to circa 1925 and estimated at £150–250. Its squat ovoid form and rich colouring make it an excellent example of early 20th century British art pottery. Another standout is Lot 6117, a carved decoy model of a goose dating from around 1900 and estimated at £300–500. Measuring 61cm wide, the piece possesses strong folk-art character and decorative charm.
