Reflecting the elegance and intrigue of this era, the sale celebrates the refined eye of the collector, bringing together classical motifs, continental glamour and timeworn splendour.Highlights include Walter Winans’ rare bronze The Centauress (1915), a striking mythological subject, alongside a superb French 19th century gilt-metal and pietra dura-mounted casket and an evocative pair of 18th century oils in the circle of Pompeo Batoni, depicting dramatic scenes from Virgil’s Aeneid.
