An early 19th century longcase clock, retailed by “Thomas Mills, Berkley”, the oak case with mahogany banding, swan’s neck pediment, brass paterae and central brass finial, with shaped backsplats and a stepped break arch hood door flanked by two pillars with brass capitals, trunk with a long break arch topped door on a rectangular plinth with a raised panel and shaped skirting, a twelve-inch wide painted dial with a depiction of flowers to the arch and corresponding floral images to the spandrels, with Roman numerals and quarter hour Arabic’s, minute track and matching steel hands, with winding collets, subsidiary seconds dial and semi-circular date aperture with calendar disc behind, dial pinned via a Walker and Finmore cast iron false plate to a four pillar, eight-day rack striking weight driven movement with a recoil anchor escapement, striking the hours on a cast bell, with key, weights and pendulum.
