Our Toys and Models Sale is a spectacle that captivates collectors and enthusiasts alike, offering an enchanting array of collector's items that span across various categories. From the intricate tracks of model railways to the nostalgic charm of die-cast vehicles, games, puppets, dolls, and teddy bears, our sale showcases treasures that appeal to the hearts of many.

Last week's event was a fantastic exhibition of over 150 lots, each containing unique and special items that found their new homes. Let's take a look at some of our favourite highlights from the collection.

 

SALE HIGHLIGHTS...

 

Exceptional Model Railway Kits Galore

Lot 3031 (pictured above, left) contained a remarkable set of eighteen '0' gauge model railway kits for coaches and wagons. Featuring esteemed makers such as Roxey Mouldings, Slater’s Wagon Kits, Parkside Dundas, Blacksmith Models, and more, each item retained its original box, preserving its historical and collectable value. This lot sold for an impressive £550, a testament to the enduring appeal and meticulous craftsmanship of model railway.

 

Corgi's Coveted Gift Set

Lot 3034 (pictured above, right) featured a Corgi Gift Set no.41, comprising a Carrimore Mark IV Transporter, Morris Mini-Cooper, BMC Mini-Cooper S, Morris Mini-Minor, Volvo P.1800, and Sunbeam IMP. Despite missing the MGC GT car, this set, in its original box, fetched £220 emphasising the popularity of Corgi vehicles among collectors.

Noah's Ark: A Handcrafted Delight

A scratch-built wooden Noah's Ark from lot 3115 (pictured above, left), adorned with painted decorations and accompanied by twenty-seven two-dimensional painted wooden figures, including eleven pairs of animals, achieved a sale price of £100. Measuring 25cm in height and 48cm in width, this artistic rendition of the biblical narrative is a truly charming handcrafted set, well-deserving of its sale price.

 

A Rare Pelham Puppet Find

The Pelham Puppet of lot 3083 (pictured above, right) was a rare gem from the 1950s, depicting a striking Harlequin figure with a painted black face mask, a black felt hat, a green ruff, and a red white chequered suit. Standing at 31cm and housed in its original box complete with instructions, this piece sold for £340, showcasing the lasting fascination with Pelham's intricate puppet designs.

A Compositional Wonder: Wooden Toy Castle

Lot 3137 (pictured above, left) featured a compositional wooden toy castle, enclosed within a box adorned with chromolithographic printed paper depicting a forest scene, and paired with painted metal soldiers. This imaginative playset, measuring 34cm in height and 50cm in width, sold for £110, illustrating the timeless appeal of fantastical play and storytelling.

 

Shackleton Toys' Mechanical Mastery

Lat, but by no means least, the Mechanical Foden FG6 Platform Lorry by Shackleton Toys, lot 3070 (pictured above, right), in dark green, red and grey, albeit without its box and key, went for £160. This piece highlighted the historical significance and popularity of Shackleton Toys' mechanical models.
