Harri Amsterdam with blackened brass framework and polished brass scale, serial no.W153, in fitted mahogany box; brass and boxwood rope gauge, three small scale rulers and pair of dividers/compasses; his Hull Nautical School Trigonometry exercise book; photocopies of his autobiography 'From The Captain's Log' and his Master's Ticket etc; and quantity of maritime interest books and folders including some stamped Prince line. Biographical Note: Born in Duggleby East Yorkshire he attended nautical college in Hull and spent his naval career in the Merchant Navy with Prince Line. His Master's Ticket was issued on 25/11/1949 and after Chief Officer roles he subsequently took command of his first ship the Tudor prince in m1955.His final command was the Scottish Prince which he left around 1960 to come ashore to be closer to his young family. He took up a role as Marine Superintendent at the Manchester Ship Canal and later became a Marine Inspector before his final retirement.
