Notes: Roberts a neglected Yorkshire artist, was baptised at St Peter's, Leeds, son of Samuel and Sarah Roberts. He exhibited eight works at the Royal Society of British Artists in Suffolk Street London. A member of the Ipswich Art Club 1889-1891 and  in 1889 he exhibited five pictures from 11 Park View, Potternewton, an area of Leeds bounded by Roundhay Park, including 'Early Morning on the Gipping', the River Gipping runs from Ipswich through Stowmarket. In 1890 he exhibited four pastels including 'Bolton Abbey on the Wharfe' and 'Druid Circle, Keswick'. He died at Leeds in 1909
