Condition Report:

When inspected under a UV light the body has a soft pink hue, particularly to the back and base, and drips of glaze are visible to the base around the edges. The handles appear to have been regilded, as whilst the colour seems to match, the quality of the gilt painting is cruder than one may expect; although the handles do not illuminate particular under the UV light. The back also has strange raised lines, as well as areas of pitting to the back and other areas. I have inspected the additional images we have provided on our website, and these lines are visible. The mark beneath also does not appear to look right, this is also shown in our additional images. However if the piece has indeed been ‘re-glazed’ then the mark may have been later added, perhaps over an existing Derby mark. Whilst the bough pot does appear to be very much Derby in style, due to these errors we will be amending our description, and would advise prospective bidders to satisfy themselves with regard to attribution and condition prior to bidding.
