Our eagerly-awaited Autumn Art sale is here. The catalogue includes a fine selection of artworks from artists past & present - a sale of selected pictures from local, national & international estates and private vendors.

Featuring:

Works from two important East Yorkshire private collections, including pieces by John Brett, Walter Hunt, John Ward of Hull, William Henry Gore, George Wolfe, Walter Crane, John Wilson Carmichael, Job Bulman, James Neal & Alfred William Hunt. 
 
Over 40 works by members of the Staithes Group of artists, consisting three collections by direct family descent (Hirst Walker, Owen Bowen and Frank Henry Mason) that have never before been on the open market, and the partial studio collection of elusive Staithes Group member Paul Paul, to include a very rare self portrait.
 
An excellent selection of quality landscape paintings from the 17th to the 20th century, by artists such as John Glover, William ''''''''Alphabet'''''''' Bond & George Vicat Cole, to Herbert F Royle & David Baumforth.

Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 1965, No.764. Neal was accepted at St Martin's School of Art in 1932, aged 14. In 1958 he moved to Hull as Lecturer in Painting and Drawing at Hull Regional College of Art, then becoming Senior Lecturer in the History of Art. Over the next fifty years he became well known for painting scenes around the Hull area. Ferens Art Gallery, has twice mounted major retrospective exhibitions of James Neal's work
