Provenance: from the artist's studio collection. Paul Politachi, born in Constantinople, was the son of Constantine Politachi. After his marriage to Marion Archer in 1896 he changed his name to the more Anglophone Paul Plato Paul. He exhibited at the Royal Academy ten times between 1901 and 1932.
