Edwardian - 8-day ships bulkhead clock and an Aneroid barometer. In matching circular oak cases with carved rope twist bezels. Clock with a painted metal dial, Roman numerals, minute track and steel spade hands, small seconds hand and platform regulation. Case 9" diameter with a 5-1/2” dial. Barometer reading air pressure from 28 to 31 inches with weather predictions, steel indicating hand and brass recording hand, with a curved mercury thermometer reading both the temperature in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. Case 11" diameter with a 7-1/2” dial.

J Hicks - Hatton Garden London, - late 19th century carved oak cased Fitzroy barometer in a richly carved case with a carved crested pediment and square cistern cover, inverted opaline register reflecting FitzRoy's predictions and a scale from 27 to 31 inches of barometric pressure, with a thick bore cistern tube and adjustable rack and pinion twin vernier, fitted with a glazed snail bulb mercury thermometer recording the air temperature in both Fahrenheit and Celsius. Mercury clean and present. James Joseph Hicks was born in Ireland, however, early in his life he moved to London where he was apprenticed to the instrument maker Louis P Casella. In 1860 he went into business in his own right as a scientific instrument maker at 8 Hatton Gardens. In 1864 he was granted membership to the British Meteorological Society and exhibited instruments at the Royal Society Exhibitions between 1876 and 1913. Hicks was one of London's most prolific and eminent barometer makers.

Lloyd Payne & Amiel - Parisian early 20th century four glass mantle clock c1905, with a Samuel Marti 8-day two train movement and twin file mercury pendulum, cast brass case with a flat top and dentil cornice beneath, decorative applied frieze supported by four tulip columns with capitals, conforming stepped plinth raised on pad feet with acanthus leaf motifs, gilt dial with a decorative and pierced centre, Arabic numerals within circular cartouche, steel fleur di Lis hands and embossed bezel, rack striking movement, striking the hours and half hours on a coiled gong. Lloyd Payne and Amiel are recorded as retailers of quality clocks and barometers in Manchester c1890.
