Description: A 19th century Belgium slate mantle clock with a recessed flat top above a break arch pediment supported by two reeded columns with Corinthian capitals on a deep moulded stepped plinth, with a French 8-day movement, striking the hours and half-hours on a coiled gong, recoil escapement and rack strike, black slate dial with a gilt chapter ring and Roman numerals, brass hands (minute hand broken)with a Brocot pendulum adjustment arbor and strike/silent arbor, dial and movement backplate engraved "MUDON, Gloucester Road, South Kensington", bevelled flat glass and cast bezel, with pendulum, no key.
*Strike silent features are exceptionally rare on French mantle clocks; activation on this clock is by turning a squared arbor protruding through the dial at the six o’clock position.

With an early-20th century Art Deco oak cased Aneroid barometer, square register measuring barometric pressure from 26 to 31 inches with weather predictions, steel indicating hand and brass recording hand within a flat square glass and chrome bezel, rectangular thermometer box with a mercury thermometer and silvered scale measuring the temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius.
