Often misattributed to Arthur Stansfield Dixon for Birmingham Guild of Handicraft, this particular lamp was designed by Thomas Birkett.
In the late 1890's Birkett worked as a metalwork at the Birmingham Guild, before later joining the Faulkner Bronze Company which went on to become Jesson, Birkett & Co in 1904. The lamp features in lighting catalogues from the firm under the model no E490.
