The exciting sale on the afternoon of Friday 24th June features Raich Carters Personal Archive
of his sporting life and career and thence by family descent, as well as an extensive private lifelong collection of Hull memorabilia and items of Yorkshire interest (and beyond!). Highlights include important and rare early Raich Carter memorabilia, in particular, his own personal biographical scrap-book in two volumes (lot 3516) and an interview recording of John Lennon conducted by a student of Hull University in 1964 (lot 3571).

John Gatecliff (1771-1831) of Hull - Ship's Captain and latterly Commodore of the Humber Pilots - a fine portrait miniature 7cm x 5.5cm on ivory of the gentleman aged 44, with reverse glazed lock of hair monogrammed 'JG' in seed pearls, Together with a fascinating unpublished autobiographical account of his life including his time as a French Prisoner of War from 1806 to 1814. Gatecliff was born in Cooks Row Scarborough the son of a Ship Master and Owner moving to Hull in about 1775. The typed journal extends to 107 pages with an additional hand written resume
